Resumo: This study presents a data analysis of the lead-acid vented batteries deterioration, that make up the emergency power systems of the stations’ priority loads of São Paulo’s Subway Line 1 - Blue. The objective is a definition of the optimal time for maintenance teams’ actuations (preventive inspections and maintenance), definition of optimal preventive replacement time and optimum resupplying point. It applies Reliability Engineering theory, like Deterioration and Life Data Analysis. This case study encompasses: presentation of the vented stationary batteries constructive and operating concepts, failure modes and deterioration mechanisms, as reliability engineering approaches for deterioration analysis, collection and analysis of deterioration data of batteries, conclusions and recommendations. The study obtained results of analyzes that can bring improvements in the management of its assets, from acquisition to replacement, such as financial gains and increased availability.
