Resumo: This paper presents the theory of reliability for repairable systems, focusing on Recurrent Event Analysis. The main differences between Recurrent Event Analysis techniques will be presented: Crow-AMSAA, Perfect Renewal Process and General Renewal Process. These parametric Recurrent Events Analysis models were applied to evaluate the reliability of control valves used in pipelines. It was also proposed a methodology for the evaluation of the best parametric model, through the comparison with results obtained in the Mean Cumulative Function which is a nonparametric Recurrent Events analysis. It was discussed the importance and care that should be taken in the analysis of multiple systems and their influences on the reliability results. As a result, the best parametric Recurrent Events Analysis model was determined for control valve reliability analysis.
