Resumo: The competitiveness of companies has a direct relationship with the level of reliability of their assets. Reliability engineering plays a key role in this scenario, where it brings tools so systems can be measured, studied and improved. For the reliability study, a cold rolling line of flat steel, composed of repairable systems, was selected. This work presents the methodology used to perform a reliability study on a set of brushes of a synchronous motor, in order to compare reliability data used during system maintenance. Next, a degradation analysis will be applied to define the optimum brush exchange date. As a result, the work will point to a more efficient maintenance in order to avoid breaks, aiming to increase the reliability and availability of the asset, thus evidencing reliability engineering as an important tool in the search for better results and decision support in the application of the financial resources of the company.
