This study aimed to evaluate the benefits and difficulties of the Building Information Model (BIM) as a management tool in engineering and architecture companies in Curitiba, PR (Brazil). After sending an electronic questionnaire to 50 companies, the data were quantified and analyzed variables. Thus, it was found that 77% of participating companies employ the tool in their routine work, and that this quantitative, 78.3% to use in architectural projects. It was found that after its introduction, plus there is improvement in the quality of the layout, processes become more dynamic, leading to a reduction in errors, rework and, consequently, financial losses. The main obstacles cited for its implementation referred to the lack of trained professionals in the market and the lack of libraries tailored to individual needs of each company. Finally, it was found that the tool is still in the early stages of use, however, we can see a gradual trend of migration from CAD to BIM platform. On that basis, it is concluded that the tool brings numerous benefits to users. However, there are still limitations to its full use. |
