Resumo: This research presents an analysis of reports of Jornal Nacional, television news with the highest audience in the country, from Rede Globo television, broadcast between August 25 and 31, 2016, the final term of the impeachment request of then President Dilma Rousseff. The study is based on the concepts of French Discourse Analysis, based on the contributions of Michel Pêcheux (2014 and 2015) and Eni Puccinelli Orlandi (2015), in addition to the basic concepts of journalism theory by Adelmo Genro Filho (2012). It is discussed the possibility of identifying, in the Jornal discourse, a tendency favorable to the request for impeachment, in addition to verifying the influence of TV and hegemonic media in the formation of public opinion. The research seeks to clarify the discursive and ideological formation that forges the action of the hegemonic media and, for this, assumes the thesis of the sociologist Jessé Souza (2017) presented in the book The Elite of Delay - from slavery to Lava Jato, a critical response to Raízes do Brasil, by Sergio Buarque de Holanda (2015), and describes the hegemonic media, led by Rede Globo, as spokesman for the economic elite. The analysis of the texts should make explicit the point of view defended and the ideology that underlies the discourse, concealed in terms and expressions, throughout the journalistic narratives.
