Resumo: The intensity of the migratory flows towards Brazil has motivated a favorable perspective of growth of the portuguese as a foreign language learning practices. The language represents an important resource to the migrant in the process of adaptation to the life in a different country, influencing interactions on everyday life and even the possibility of pursuing a job or transiting in spaces occupied by native speakers of a language. While the access to the internet can be useful to the migrant as a way of obtaining information and help through the adaptation process in a foreign reality, the use of applications in mobile devices to learn portuguese can be seen as an alternative or a complementation of studies of migrants that attend classes or find in the applications the only possible way of learning to read and write in the language. Considering the language as form of representation of culture and identity, this academic research project proposes the analysis of applications dedicated to teaching portuguese as a foreign language, contemplating cultural and linguistic factors on the process of literacy through the migrant perspective. This present study has as it main goal to ‘to evaluate what resources of applications for learning portuguese as a foreign language in mobile devices can be applicable to literacy practices to migrants on the internet’. The methodology proposed to this project consists in the application of a descriptive qualitative research, divided into two phases: bibliographical research, that explores questions related to culture, language, literacy, internet and migration, and a case study, that contemplates the analyses of two mobile applications designated to the learning process of portuguese language as a foreign language.
