Resumo: Since the great voyages, there has been in the world a cargo and people’s flow leading to a mix in the cultures of the economically linked countries. After the World War II the interest of the U.S. for Brazil has grown and at that same moment a search for information about the United States has risen. In the 1940’s many Binational Centers have been founded which up to now are responsible for spreading the American culture in Brazil. Nowadays, teenagers are deeply influenced by the U.S. culture and it is hard to know for sure if studying English as an extracurricular activity raises this influence. Overall, media is responsible for spreading cultures and role models, which are frequently accepted by teenagers and their groups. This work aims to compare students from three schools in the city of Curitiba: a private, a public and a language school. Through two surveys, an objective and a subjective one, teenagers had their choices measured. About 90% of them considered themselves influenced by the American culture.
