Resumo: This monograph is the study result about the formation of high performance teams on construction projects, which the goal was to propose good practices in the formation of high performance teams on the service industry. As a project based industry, different teams are assembled, with its life ending as the project ends Thereby, forming high performance teams it is a challenge because there is a lot of difficulty maintaining the team members. Therefore, this work tries to discuss about the factors that can influence the formation of the construction manager’s team, how are they developed, and what they are. The influential factors that were described are organizational structures, the team roles, communication, empowerment, the performance appraisal system and the ways of team rewarding. By interviews with engineering professionals, it attempted to identify how these factors are present and are addressed in the civil construction market, register their opinion and the strategy the market uses, along with its practices, aiming to identify the manager’s difficulty on the subject. Based on this information it was possible to identify and suggest best practices to the formation of high performance teams on construction projects. Therefore, this work aims to identify and provide light to the market, providing knowledge to strategic and managerial decisions.
