Resumo: Facade painting, on tall buildings, is a crucial step in completing a building within cost and scheduled time. The choice of adequate vertical lifting equipments is of extreme importance in order to be successful in completing this activity. In this context, this work seeks to contribute, by carrying out a comparative study of productivity, cost and safety in the execution of the facade painting, between equal panels of two different towers of the same development, with two different equipments: electric rocker and rope access. The method used for analysis was the daily observation of the activities related to painting, which generated results of productivity and cost, as well as a research with the professionals that perform the activities, referring to safety. Electric rockers are widely used in the construction market, for finishing of facades, but they make possible the execution of large areas only when used several equipment together or successive assembly. This creates dependence on other professionals, to mobilize, assemble and disassemble the equipment, which can generate higher costs and lower productivity. While the rope access allows not only vertical movement but too horizontal movement and does not need of the mobilization of large equipment, that reduce the amount of workers required to carry out the same work. From the study, it was possible to perceive that access by rope is a viable alternative for the execution of facade paint coatings and not only in the industrial maintenance, because it presented higher productivity, safety, greater mobilization agility, does not require pre-built structures, presents better aesthetics and organization in the workplace, requires fewer professionals and facilitates the execution, presenting a good cost-benefit ratio.
