Resumo: The oil circulation pumps of the elevating transformers of the Itaipu generators, called TUs, are important equipment to keep the temperature of the transformers within acceptable standards, and a failure in these equipments can lead to the shutdown of the complete generating unit. Vibration analysis is one of the best indicators of the dynamic conditions in industrial equipment. By the ability to foresee a failure, it is considered a predictive maintenance technique. For the effective use of this technique, it is necessary to carry out periodic measurements on the equipment under analysis, in order to anticipate the failure and, consequently, to determine the best time to perform a maintenance intervention on these equipments. For safety reasons, measurements can only be taken during stops for preventive maintenance of the generating units, coinciding with the time when some intervention can be made. This makes the use of vibration analysis unfeasible as a predictive technique. This work proposes a way to access the vibration information of the motor pumps at any time, with the aim of making the technique more effective in predicting failures and scheduling maintenance activities.
