This study aimed at replacing the current process of manufacturing a component of the oil and gas industry in Brazil, known as hot stab blind, by the additive manufacturing process. The study opportunity arose from the need to accelerate the manufacturing process and reduce costs in developing these products. This study uses a measurement method by providing an analysis to choose the most suitable process for the replacement as well as a comparison between the new and current process technology, including both cost and time. As a result it was seen that it is not yet feasible to use additive manufacturing to replace the current manufacturing process of hot stabs blind, although this process ensure products with good features compared to current processes. |
