Resumo: The increase of the presence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in several areas allows us to perceive trends that are yet to come. This glimpse of the possibilities open up new perspectives of unfolding of different spaces still to be explored. There is a growing demand for healthy activities, such as sports, which help fight sedentary lifestyle, increase self-esteem, and help build healthy body. Among those options of sports activities is pugilism. Taking Boxing gyms as an example, it is perceived that this is an environment still to be exploited technologically for optimization in the management processes, through a set of actions (analyze, plan, organize, evaluate, monitor) executed to avail the resources available aiming to obtain better results than the usual. The objective of this study was, through applied and exploratory research, to discover the possibility of implementation of ICT’s - based on Free Software (SL) in the management of the gyms where boxing is practiced and teach, and list which ICT’s fit together for this purpose, comparing the differences between the current model (proprietary software) and the proposed one. Through this study we established that it is perfectly possible to use TIC's in SL in the management of boxing gyms, adding to them value with advantages compared to the proprietary model. As a secondary objective, a knowledge base was built for future research on the same subject.
