In the 1970s, when we asked anyone about social sustainability, an overwhelming percentage of the answers would be: it is a passing theme or fad, a view of activists and ecologists, and this implies just a little in the way of life of the human being. Currently, discussions about the topic are increasingly present in the daily lives of ordinary citizens, business and government organizations, with the main focus on the need for an explicit commitment to the theme. This research has as main objective to introduce a study with the purpose of verifying the awareness, development and interests of the organizations and mainly in the common citizen, in practice by the subject, aiming at the demonstration of their needs, participations and responsibilities. Initially, we analyzed 24 families living in a block considered as a condominium, and two medium to large companies, one starting the sustainable projects and the other already having a series of developed projects, all remained until the conclusion. The observation and informal conversations were the instruments used for data collection. The revelation through the analysis of the data identified that, although there is a certain charge on the part of the clients and the society, and consequently a pressure on the organizations, they have many difficulties to implement the processes; the sustainability often conflicts with financial performance; Among the citizens, although much is said and most agree with the aspects of sustainability, in practice very little is done, and the actions taken mostly are those imposed by condominiums or by governmental organizations and workplaces. n view of the above results, the gap between necessity and fads is noticeable, in other words, in practice the concrete actions taken towards sustainability are far outweighed by the fad and practicality of everyday life, which are mostly imposed by large organizations that aim for growth above all. So, this study highlights the need for reflection, awareness and practice of actions, mainly individually, in other words, from each citizen so that there can be growth and development of sustainability consciously and not just used as marketing and certification. |
