When dealing with investment policies, the Government has a hard time to choose activities or sectors to bring the expected return. An economic crisis exacerbates these decisions because of the reduction of resources and of the margin of error. In fact, the Brazilian construction sector has great importance in the economic structure, being a historical ally to leverage your growth and can be classified as a key sector for the national economy. The country, during the years 2000 to 2015, experienced a period marked by an accelerated development followed by a crisis of major proportions. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Construction sector in this time interval. To this end, this study brings concepts of Economics, Microeconomics to Macroeconomics, as National Accounting is performed, how it is measured and the determinants of economic development. Also identifies the major economic Markets in which Construction has influence. From this, data are presented to demonstrate the performance of the sector in the period from 2000 to 2015, as well as to confront with the values of the Brazilian economy. From the analysis of indicators of product generation, income, work, variation in prices and costs identifies a close correspondence between the performance of the construction industry and the Brazilian economy (correlation index equal to 0.764). The sector is also the fourth largest generator of occupations, on average, of the national economy in the analyzed period. From these and other results, it is proven that the Construction sector, despite the effects caused by the crisis, has remained one of the most participatory and important in the economy of the country. |
