Resumo: This study aims to analyze the role of people management in a legal department and how this management can influence the administrative decision making for the success of companies in Brazil. We collected some important information from some companies of renowned performance in the country, through bibliographic research, on the management of people in internal legal departments. Thus, the research carried out in management books and specific articles on the Internet directed with this study, showed some main results as the necessary participation of the legal area in the decision making of the company; the preparation of the people of the legal department with the core business of the company; and the involvement of legal professionals with management in general and interaction with other internal areas. The work proposes the need for an efficient management of people in the legal department, through the analysis of the management of people working in this department and the analysis of the performance of the legal department before the business administration, in order to result in the effective participation and contribution of this department area in the decision-making of the companies, which will certainly contribute to a better economic-financial result of the company.
