Resumo: This essay aims to analyze the representations of the city of Curitiba by the Brazilian writer Dalton Trevisan, considering its urban transformations and the ideological speech built by the media in which this city is internationally recognized as a model of efficient planning. The analysis is based in short stories written by Trevisan between 1959 and 2010 and is developed considering the concept of "society of the spectacle", created by the French social theorist Guy Debord, and ideas about the work of Dalton Trevisan from the book "Do vampiro ao cafajeste", written in 1982 by the literature professor Berta Waldman. Contrary to the official publicity that suggests pride feelings about the city, the characters living in the underworld of Trevisan’s short stories denounce other aspects of the urban environment mainly related to the poorer classes, what might indicate that, despite the attempts to sustain the spectacularization of life, we are all, as human beings, somehow forgotten.
