It is stil highly controversial the relation between fiction and history concearning to the novel An Invincible memory, by João Ubaldo Ribeiro. The present study re-visits the work of fiction guided by theories of the Latin America’s New Historical Novel - 1979-1992, by Seymour Menton (1993), and previously applied by Eliane Giacon (2003) on her essays, in particular: Four “rasgos”: one new historical novel. It is performed a re-reading of the novel in search for the tears - traits collected by the Canadian theorist, and which would point a to an ensemble along with the NHN. Likewise, it‟s made an approach to historiography texts and to other works, some also by the itaparicano writer, altogether guided by interviews given by the writer, and hypotheses about the genesis of the novel in its context. |
