Comic books have been attracting attention of researchers from various academic fields. However, the studies focused on the analysis of comics under the bias of Graphic Design (and consequently on the use of visual attributes and how they can influence the structure and representation of illustration and text) are still few. Thus, this research aims to investigate HITOMI, one of the comic books nominated for the Jabuti Prize 2017, and to observe how, from the literature review, the graphic and textual elements are employed. Thereunto, this paper was divided in the study of the theoretical basis, which guides the exploration, and the analysis itself of the first chapter of HITOMI. As a result, it was possible to verify that the comic book made use of the great majority of the aspects delimited by the studied literature and, thus, still suffers great influence of the North American comic language. In spite of this, HITOMI is also an example of the result of the maturation and trajectory of Brazilian comic books, which currently presents a balanced market with the same quality that is found abroad. |
