The use of structural masonry constructions is increasingly widespread in the Brazilian market. Due to the demand for agility and cost reduction it has become a widely used method mainly in the construction of low income focused buildings. In this paper a few characteristics of this methodology have been detailed through bibliographic research as well as the main pathological occurrences that affect these structures. In order to collaborate with the studies and primarily contribute to the reduction of future problems, a case study of a low cost building that has cracking due to thermal movement on the roof slab was developed. The main characteristics of this pathological manifestation and suggestions for its solution have been presented. |
