Resumo: Analyzing the conventional starting systems of vehicles, there was a possibility of improvement in the power supply system for starting the vehicle, provided by the lead acid battery. In extreme cases of successive cranking as happens for example in cabs and systems start/stop, if there is no system exclusive for vehicle engine starting, the vehicle's battery eventually becomes damaged early and has to be changed before average life time. There are also cases where battery usage high when the engine off, as in trucks and buses, compromising the power supply required for starting the vehicle, difficulting the engine to start. With the objective of making possible a new starting system in vehicles, this monograph aims to analyze the operation of supercapacitors in parallel with the battery.
