The objective of this work is to explain the basic concepts behind the mobile communication systems WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) and LTE (Long Term Evolution) and at the same time make a comparison between these technologies. Some techniques like MIMO (Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs) and OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) that enable the existence of these technologies will be described. Other characteristics like network architecture and aspects of the radio interface will also be described. |
