Resumo: The implementation of the Digital TV System in Brazil joined efforts of different areas of knowledge to elaborate the standard. The Japanese system, called ISDB-T or Integrated Services of Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial, was used as a technical base and offers some advantages such as providing free service for mobile television and cell phones, not provided in the European standard DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial) for example. Another advantage of the system is related to the video and audio compression techniques introduced by the Brazilian standard. In this regard, this paper collects information about the Brazilian Digital TV System, summarizing the transmission, coding, multiplexing and receiving techniques adopted, and focuses on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) used on the transmission system. The simulations help us to understand some technical points about the system and its general operation.
