Resumo: This paper presents the design of a LAN, for use in substations for power distribution and control panels, applied to processes in oil refineries, using the IEC61850 standards. It proposed an infrastructure based on optical switches and intelligent relays. The main objective of the LAN is to made data available to the supervisory control system in the existing refinery, which should be operated remotely, and also propose the traffic isolation using logical networks for priority messages, exclusive for the system of protection and routing important data that are exchanged only between the relays. The general purpose is to test the network performance and justify the use of the tools to optimize messaging traffic.
