Quality of Service Management is an essential requirement for multimedia applications. This work approaches MPLS (Multi-protocol Label Switching) Architecture with focus in QoS (Quality of Service). Initially, some topics are presented on IP (Internet Protocol) networks and QoS. The following are concepts of MPLS technology as well as its operation and services provided, like VPN (Virtual Private Network), TE (Traffic Engineering) and the main focus of this work the implementation of QoS in MPLS. The main protocols for the provision and management of QoS are presented. Finally, the points to be considered as advantages and disadvantages of MPLS technology are described, providing a greater understanding and better conditions for development of new projects that require quality of service. |
