Resumo: The modeling software system was created to describe in a language easy to understand the anticipated operation of the functions of a system. The division of the system into parts, consisting of diagrams, facilitates the understanding of the flow behavior and functionality that a system should run at the end of its development. Through the construction of graphical models, symbolizing artifacts and components with their proper relationships, one can define the modeling software. Procedural modeling known as usually used as a base flowcharts to be demonstrated. Already using object-oriented modeling is a graphical notation, commonly UML (Unified Modeling Language). Currently there is an increasing demand for systems that can be accessed from anywhere, these systems are called web software. In such a system the flow of user interaction is one of the most important aspect. The traditional modeling used for several years, is no longer supplying certain needs required by the end users of web systems. The emergence of new patterns of modeling to address these difficulties is one of the issues addressed in this work, which aims to check how it is being taught the principles of modeling in Institutions of Higher Learning in the southwest region of Paraná, and how these principles are being applied development companies in the same region. For this purpose, a survey was conducted through a questionnaire both in institutions and in industry. With the results obtained from the studies, it was possible to see the various aspects on the courses in computer science offered by institutions and businesses of software development in the field of modeling.
