This study analyzes the accessibility in Brazilian e-commerce environments available on the World Wide Web. A series of evaluations were made aiming to preset the value of the study itself. The first evaluation shows the importance of information and communication technologies and how it has transformed economies and societies, likewise, the beginning and evolution of e-commerce. The number of Internet users who has made online shopping and people with disabilities in Brazil are also important metrics presented. This work also intends to raise awareness of the importance of Web accessibility in e-commerces for the country social development. As following, it helps popularize the knowledge about Web accessibility standards supported by the Web Consortium (W3C). As result, is presented an applied study in the scenario of virtual stores through WAI-ARIA standard guidelines. In order to develop the scenario analysis, several Brazilian online stores were selected and, for each were identified the basic steps required to execute an online purchase. In this context, for each required step, a manual source code inspection was applied in order to verify whether WAI-ARIA standard are present in each online store. The results were based on hypothetical-deductive method. Optimistic assumptions regarding the unknown scenario were initially used. This research uses a qualitative approach with intentional sampling. As a result it was possible to measure the use of the accessibility standard WAI-ARIA in virtual shops refuting or confirming the hypotheses made. Finally was created recommendations to assist stakeholders using standard accessibility studied in this research. |
