Resumo: The Aluminum is highly representative in the world economy, it is a raw material for the manufacture of a wide variety of products due to its physico-chemical characteristics that also give it a great possibility of recycling. In the recycling of aluminum, the scrap is transferred to the liquid state in furnaces up to 800 °C, subjected to a correction step of the alloy, and then transferred to the solid state in the form of billets. This process is the cause of many accidents at work, also exposes the worker to situations of unhealthiness, due to high temperature. In this way, the present study evaluated quantitatively the thermal overload, the work conditions at the aluminum recycling in the following sectors: stock of the raw material, feed furnace, pouring, support of the billets and aging furnaces. In order to evaluate the thermal overload, the instrument used was the TGD-300, with calibration certificate in force, of the manufacturer Instrutherm® and the procedures were based on NR-15 (Brazil, 1978) and NHO 06 (Brazil, 2002). All the analyzed sectors were with heat levels below the tolerance limits imposed by the regulatory standard. Except the pouring sector that presented an average IBUTG of 29.06, while the tolerance limit is 28.50, where it is recommended that the worker stays longer in the place of rest or that the routine of work is divided among more employees.
