The State Department of Education along with the Parana State High and Basic School Francisco Lima da Silva from Cascavel – PR with support of Federal Government, offers the Technical Course of Secretariat – PROEJA. The educational program targeted to youth and adults aims the recovery of students outside the average age and that for some reason came to interrupt their studies. The student takes from this Program the professionalization with the aim to be inside the work market creating a perspective of personal change. The objective of this research was to characterize the profile of the student in order to meet the needs that let them to fit into the PROEJA Program, checking the importance of the course in their lives. Data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire applied to 61 students duly enrolled in the Technical of Secretariat – PROEJA in the evening period, reveling that most of the students work and study and 67% are women. Among the interviewed 57% are until 30 years old and 77% have children. Almost everybody has the ability of reading and watch television with access to varied information. Regarding the demand for PROEJA Program 100% come from public schools and almost everybody was 10 years out of the school, coming back for several reasons, mainly to acquire knowledge and increasing job opportunities for survival. Among the reasons that led to school drop-out was 30% by the need to work still at young age and the others, to take care of their children and other familiar problems. Most of the people that were interviewed expect the school, especially of PROEJA Program new perspectives of life, dreams, goals and acquire new knowledge. The students reported that during the course there was a personal change in their personal lives and they recommend the Program to their friends and family. From the students that were interviewed 57% work legally formalized and 40% got higher positions or changed jobs during the PROEJA Course. |
