It aims to reflect on the identity and attributions of the pedagogue in the Education of Young and Adults and its importance as a transforming agent that articulates with all involved in the pedagogical process. In order to achieve the proposed objective, we will use qualitative research to emphasize the reality of a pedagogue who is active in the EJA. The text is divided into two moments. In the first moment this work will reflect on the role of the pedagogue in the school and its attributions in Basic Education, through studies in the educational legislation. The second part will address the specificity of the work of the pedagogue in the EJA. For this, it describes the functioning of an EJA school in the city of Paranavaí and the pedagogue’s role in the process of welcoming and accompanying students. Finally, he will make reflections about the difficulties and perspectives found in the pedagogue’s work in the EJA. Esta pesquisa aborda a atuação do pedagogo na Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA), e a sua contribuição para o processo de ensino aprendizagem neste campo educativo. Tem como objetivo refletir sobre a identidade e atribuições do pedagogo na Educação de Jovens e Adultos e sua importância como agente transformador que articula com todos envolvidos no processo pedagógico. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto utilizaremos de pesquisa qualitativa para enfatizar a realidade de um pedagogo atuante na EJA. O texto está dividido em dois momentos. No primeiro momento este trabalho refletirá sobre o papel do pedagogo na escola e suas atribuições na Educação Básica, por meio de estudos na legislação educacional. A segunda parte abordará a especificidade do trabalho do pedagogo na EJA. Para isso, descreve o funcionamento de uma escola de EJA do município de Paranavaí e a atuação do pedagogo no processo de acolhida e acompanhamento dos alunos.
