Resumo: This research seeks moments of study, reflection and critical analysis of the thematics discipline and indiscipline in the school context, which involves teaching and learning. Since indiscipline has been strengthened in recent decades in Brazilian schools, undermining the quality of education. So was led to the construction of a structured research on the question: How discipline can influence the process of teaching and learning in elementary education? The objective of this study was to examine the theoretical basis of the importance of discipline to the process of teaching and learning. It is believed that the construction of this research is key to a better education. The literature review that guides this work is divided into three moments in which searches for answers to the question that disrupts education. Initially conceptualized discipline, indiscipline and the grating between them, with the goal of a betther understanding of the subject proposed, later to improve teaching strategies. Then seeks to understand better the causes of indiscipline and its relationship to the teaching process. It aims to reflect on the paths taken, perfecting, another time the same. The last time, the proposal seeks to bring together scholars to mitigate this issue, which disrupts education in order to help the educator in improving their teaching strategies. It is believed that studies like this can help alleviate the indiscipline in the teaching and learning.
