This study refers to the current situation of Environmental Inspection in São José dos Campos and suggests its improvement. For, it was given the location, size and general characteristics of the municipality, since it is the object of Inspection and Environmental Monitoring. It was presented the federal legislaton, state legislation and municipal legislation which gives the legal framwork for the action of environmental inspecting the city, in order to guarantee environmental development and sustainability of the city with life quality for their citizens. The bibliographical review sought to understand the experience of environmental inspection in other cities, like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. It also reviewed the Inspection of Attitudes and Urban Aesthetics in São José dos Campos for comparising it with the Environmental Inspection procedure. It was found that the Environmental Inspection was initiated in 2005 in a misguided way and with a small number of environmental inspectors. Considering the analysis, some improvement proposals were made, such as increasing the number of personell from three to fourteen officers and increasing from three to seven the number of vehicles, as well as other proposals regarding material resources, such as GPS, computers and photo cameras. |
