Resumo: Addressing the theme “Motivation at work’, this research analyzes, through diagnosis in the workplace, the motivation and quality of life of the public servants and their implications on the organizational climate and strategic management of Attorney's office of Republic in São José dos Campos-SP (PRM/SJC). Discusses the concepts of motivation, as well as its competitive differential for the public organizations and accentuate the benefits to the public agency of keep people satisfied and motivated at work. Complementing for a field research, with a sample of effective servers, crowded of distinct sectors, the review identify, via the application of a questionnaire, divergence between concepts of motivation and the present practices in the routine work, compromising of motivation and quality of life at work in PRM/SJC. Analyze the results, debate of obstacles that hinder the achievement of motivation and presents recommendations and actions to overcome them, based on literature relating to this topic. Therefore, the overall goal is identify and contextualize the present factors in the routine at work of the mentioned servants that compromise its motivation and quality of life at work, analyzing them qualitatively and quantitatively, according to the literature and theoretical referential. Given the above, the article concludes, some recommendations were necessary in order to make the concepts of motivation and QVT adopted by PRM / SJC, in fact, a mechanism to promote motivation and quality of work life for its servers. The study points that, for the motivation at work, it’s necessary activities that lead to learning, developing and professional realization, as well as the enrichment of the tasks. On the other hand the working conditions and power relations can be established internally when demotivating factors translate into authoritarian attitudes and actions that reduce the autonomy and professional recognition.
