Resumo: |
The correct disposal of solid waste is important for both the environment and the economy of the municipality, since when this waste is correctly destined, it prevents a large amount of waste from being sent to the landfill and generates income for a population that normally lives in social and economic vulnerability .It is therefore extremely important that measures be taken not only at the Federal and State levels, but also at smaller spheres such as municipalities. Some municipalities have been treating the disposal of Solid Waste, as is the case of the Municipality of Osasco, in the State of São Paulo. This work aims to characterize the Osasco Recicla Program of Recycled Material and its contribution to the management of Solid Waste in the municipality of Osasco. The research is qualitative and the data collection was obtained through semi-structured interviews conducted with City Hall employees and cooperative workers participating in the program and documentary analysis through surveys carried out in the secretaries of the program. The data were analyzed through the technique of content analysis and the results indicate that, although the Osasco Recicla Program is a reference as public policy regarding solid waste management intersecretarial integration is still a challenge to be overcome, as well as the need for improvement in the infrastructure of cooperatives and support to the cooperative workers. The issue of improving the environment with the implementation of selective waste collection in the city is also an important factor in the program. The implementation of this program has brought several benefits to the municipality and people directly attached to it. The improvement in the quality of life of cooperative recyclers is the main evidence of these benefits. |
