Resumo: The objective of this study is to report the experience of a practice of Mathematical Modeling in the classroom with students in the 5th year of elementary school. This methodology presents an option for teaching and learning, where the characters, students and teacher, exchange experience and valid and essential to the development of learning experiences. Make students recognize themselves as active in the construction of history is a key factor of this work, even more than the seizure of the content. Do understand that it is not just a spectator and change their passive condition is an important change in focus to understanding the things that guide us, is to understand the function of a member of the community belonged.
