This work analyzes the development of environmental awareness and attitude in the school context of elementary and middle school students in the public school of Monte Alto (SP). Two questionnaires were applied, one for teachers (24 participants) and one for students (122 participants). The first one ranges from teacher training to the methodological approach to content, types of didactic resources used and methods of evaluation, among others. The questionnaire applied to the students shows the complexity of the perception they have about aspects of the environmental theme. Most of the professors have latu postgraduate (63%) and seek updating through courses (42%), internet and books. The prevalent methodological approach is investigative and scientific (66.7% -75%), with frequent use of resources such as group discussions and case studies (71%), and films, videos or documentaries. Concepts such as conscious consumption and waste of resources, sustainability, environmental awareness and attitude are much approached by teachers (83.3%). On the other hand, concepts less addressed such as anthropic activities (54.2%), dynamics and ecosystem services and environmental policies. The learning evaluation format is mostly the use of a multi-choice or dissertation questionnaire (75%), with elements relevant to the teaching-learning process as behavioral change and values (83.3% -87.5%). The students claim to have classes focused on environmental issues in their schools and try to develop sustainability actions daily, although they do not always remember (58% -77%). Faced with an environmental problem, on average 55% would delegate to the public body the resolution, while 36% would take the initiative to talk to the community to resolve. As for the best way of learning, 41% chose visits and field observation, one of the resources less used by teachers, followed by films and documentaries. The teaching-learning process in environmental issues should be developed in a multidisciplinary way and beyond the walls of the school, guaranteeing an effective learning with reflection in the community. |
