The school represents a place for acquiring knowledge and eating habits, which are often brought into adulthood. This study aimed to identify the eating patterns of adolescents of a public school in Osasco and some associated factors such as consumption patterns inside and outside the school environment, self perception of body image and practice of physical activities. There is a need to conduct research on the eating habits of adolescents to intervene so that they acquire healthier habits. The research was done through a questionnaire and tabulation of the data by the Excel program and they were presented in the form of graphs and tables. The study in question obtained the following results: when asked about feeding in school, 57% of the students feed on the school environment, and only 11% were characterized as effective adherence. Most schoolchildren consume food purchased from the school canteen (52%), followed by food (45%) and food brought from home (3%). When asked about the reason for acquiring school meals, 44% answered that they eat when they are hungry and 44% when it is a food they like. Students who attend school meals represent 12% of the total sample. Lunch is mostly in the domestic environment (77%), 20% in the school environment and 3% do not do this meal correctly. The afternoon snack is held by 38% in the school environment, 44% in the residence and 17% of the students do not. In the students' diet are inserted few fruits and vegetables, many processed foods, many sweet and similar and many proteins. It is concluded through the present work that the school environment should have more space to discuss the eating patterns of students, based on the discussion, the importance of main meals and good nutrition in the school environment. |
