Resumo: This work implies reflecting on the importance of science education focused on environmental education and monitor the development of environmental education in the years 2013 to 2015 in municipal schools in the city of Pirassununga / SP. Environmental education whose first awareness of the entire school community to build the knowledge and critical and transformative vision in students about environmental problems, making them conscious citizens capable of acting in favor of actions that benefit themselves and future generations . The research was conducted in a qualitative approach, in order to check the curriculum of Sciences of school units of the Municipal Pirassununga, with regard to proposals for environmental education projects (EA), analyzing the feasibility and indication of execution. The research was qualitative in nature and for analysis and data collection was used documentary analysis of Sciences Curriculum, interviews with the pedagogical direction and coordination of 36 school units (EU) of the municipality. Research deepened based on the history of environmental education in Brazil, environmental problems, the water crisis in 2014 and there was what kind of actions were carried out in schools to educate students. It was used as a basis for analysis of this research documents: Law of Directives and Bases of National Education. Law No. 9.394 of December 20, 1996, National Curriculum Parameters of Basic Education (1997) and Law No. 9795 of 27 April 1999. It has about environmental education, establishing the National Environmental Education Policy and other measures. In accordance with the studies it was concluded that environmental education should be worked in an interdisciplinary way and not in isolation. It was found that environmental education in Pirassununga requires a greater commitment by the Education Department to be widely publicized and discussed in schools in order to attract more actions involving the whole school community, and that these actions are not restricted to classrooms.
