This essay presents a survey of eating habits of consumption of fruits and vegetables among students of a public school in São José dos Campos - SP. Have been developed a number of fun activities to facilitate the process of teaching and learning, seeking to provide scientific information regarding food groups, seeking and attracting the interest of students. These pedagogical activities also intended to develop the autonomy and the awareness of students about the importance of correct choice of food. While performing the activities, students were asked also about the role of food and nutrients in its growth process and the maintenance of health, as much as its importance in the prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular problems. This study was conducted with ninety students from eleven to fourteen years old, and the vast majority, 38,9%, said to consume only two fruits a week, and apple and banana are preferred by the interviewed. About the way of consumption, 67,8% students indicated the whole fruit form as being preferred. Regarding the intake of vegetables, 86,7% said the eat vegetables every week, but the variety showed little, with tomato and lettuce appointed by 86% students. It is necessary that the school develop actions to enlighten students about the importance of varied diet, so that the good eating habits acquired in early adolescence would be extended to adulthood, avoiding the damage to health that incorrect food brings. |
