Resumo: The current market requires greater competitiveness of organizations, thus resulting in the need to constantly improve production processes, organizational innovation process is directly related to the survival of companies in this competitive environment, and it is restricted to large companies, small businesses may also not develop and systematize their innovation processes to leverage the development of products, services and processes. This paper seeks to make a diagnosis of the structural situation of the company, for innovation to have a closer view of the current state of the organization. The study begins with the literature on the subject innovation that will potting research, to proceed with a case study of a small manufacturing company. Data were collected data on the company and applied the octagon diagnostic tool innovation that allowed graphically view the performance for eight dimensions of innovation proposed by the methodology, facilitating the analysis of the data, allowing you to see the points to be improved in the process of innovation management as formalization and systematization of innovation processes and the need for improvement in resource management for innovation. This tool lets you check the weaknesses that need to be improved to allow the company to manage more efficiently their innovation initiatives.
