Resumo: With the advent of industrialization, the generation of industrial wastewater is increasing every year, and if not treated properly, can cause great damage to the environment. There are several technologies available for the treatment of industrial effluents, being divided into physical, chemical and biological processes. Biological processes are those which use microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria to degrade the wastewater and transform it into less harmful materials, and have been widely used by industries. This study aimed, through a literature review, explain about the biological processes employing the fungus of the species Aspergillus niger and the ability of this species to degrade industrial effluents
