Resumo: This study aimed to diagnose the design of operators / local managers of some desalination plants installed in the Bahian semi-arid region in relation to the disposal of the concentrate. It is important to emphasize that there is a public policy called the Fresh Water Program (PAD) that demonstrates the desalination system model that should be adopted to ensure the environmental sustainability of desalination. This work consisted of a field survey through a questionnaire in several communities of the Bahian semi-arid region, fueled by this type of equipment, that is, with this approach it was possible to have a real perception. With this work, it was observed that the PAD guidelines are not applied in communities that were awarded after the program's inception.
