This work was carried out to evaluate the afforestation 8 squares located in Downtown Alagoinhas-BA, through the analysis of the floristic composition, vegetation structure and general diagnosis of the current situation of individual trees. The analysis was performed through a census in 8 squares of the city where individuals were measured, quantified and identified. For the phytosociological survey of each individual was measured to the Diameter Breast Height (DAP) and processed in Excel. The characterization of the qualitative condition of individuals was performed by evaluating the condition and overall balance of the tree, plant, severity of injuries, interference generated by the relation tree-construction / wiring, shallowness of roots and executed actions. 162 individuals belonging to 29 species were evaluated. The species that contributed most to the total individuals were: Ficus benjamina, Erythrina indica, Mangifera indica, Syagrus romanzoffiana and Delonix regia. The species with the highest frequency was observed in Delonix regia 62.50% of squares, and the one with the largest number of individuals was the Ficus benjamina observed in 50% of the squares. The most damaging problem observed in the squares is conducting severe pruning which does not follow the technical criteria and compromises the health, vigor and aesthetic trees. Assessed subjects require a management plan for maintenance that includes: staff training to care for the planting and maintenance of planted species, monitoring and control of pests and involvement of the population to the extent of care afforestation. Em um planejamento urbano é indispensável o conhecimento da composição florística e da estrutura fitossociológica de suas áreas, em especial aquelas onde a urbanização é crescente, como em Alagoinhas-BA. Esse trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a arborização em 8 praças localizadas no Centro da cidade de Alagoinhas-BA, através da análise da composição florística, estrutura fitossociológica e diagnóstico geral da atual situação dos indivíduos arbóreos. A análise foi realizada através de um censo nas 8 praças do município onde os indivíduos foram aferidos, quantificados e identificados. Para levantamento o fitossociológico foi medido de cada indivíduo o Diâmetro a Altura do Peito (DAP) e processados no Excel. A caracterização da condição qualitativa dos indivíduos foi realizada através da avaliação do estado e equilíbrio geral da árvore, a fitossanidade, intensidade de injúrias, interferências geradas pela relação árvore-construção/fiação, superficialidade de raízes e ações executadas. Foram avaliados 162 indivíduos pertencentes a 29 espécies. As espécies que mais contribuíram para o total de indivíduos foram: Ficus benjamina, Erythrina indica, Mangifera indica, Syagrus romanzoffiana e Delonix regia. A espécie com maior frequência foi Delonix regia observada em 62,50 % das praças, e a que apresentou o maior número de indivíduos foi a Ficus benjamina a observada em 50 % das praças. O problema mais prejudicial observado nas praças é a realização de podas severas o qual não segue critérios técnicos e compromete a sanidade, o vigor e a estética das árvores.
