With the increase of the population and the industrial advance, it was necessary the implantation of better conditions for locomotion and transport of loads. Even if necessary for a country's infrastructure and economy, the highway causes environmental impacts that often become unrecoverable. Several studies are carried out to construct highways, monitoring studies are carried out, in some cases management plans are elaborated for the preservation of the species of the fauna and flora. However, while taking great care in the implementation of highways, the impacts remain after the termination. Many wild animals lose their lives on the Brazilian highways, because they are highways constructed by fragmenting forest areas that are habitats of many species. Several works developed in highway monitoring seek to understand and relate the trampling of fauna with the habitat that covers the study area. Of the several factors, the trampling of wild animals on highways that cut conservation areas can be understood due to the crossing of the fauna that often go in search of better resources. The present study had as objective to present the impacts caused to wild fauna by Brazilian highways that fragment forest areas. The data were obtained from scientific bibliographies that expose the negative effect of roads that fragment spaces such as conservation units that house several species of wild animals, among them many threatened with extinction. Currently, roads that fragment forest areas and conservation units are already informed with signs indicating the possible crossing of animals on the road, but it is still necessary to look more critically at the bodies responsible for the highways and the bodies responsible for forest areas to ease accidents involving wild animals. In Brazil, measures to prevent the trampling of wildlife are insufficient, and there is no public agency or project with the purpose of preventing the trampling of wild animals on highways. As estradas são a forma mais antiga a qual o homem utiliza para se conectar de uma vila a outra, uma cidade a outra, estados e países e esses lugares, por meio delas estão interligados entre si. Com o aumento da população e o avanço industrial fez-se necessário a implantação de melhores condições para locomoção e transporte de cargas. Mesmo que necessárias para infraestrutura e economia de um país, as rodovias provocam impactos ambientais que muitas vezes se tornam irrecuperáveis. Diversos estudos são realizados para construção de rodovias, estudos de monitoramento são executados, em alguns casos planos de manejo são elaborados para preservação das espécies da fauna e flora. Porém, mesmo tendo todo o cuidado na implantação de rodovias, os impactos permanecem após o termino. Muitos animais silvestre perdem a vida nas autopistas brasileiras, por serem rodovias construídas fragmentando áreas florestais que são habitat de muitas espécies. Vários trabalhos desenvolvidos em monitoramento de rodovia buscam compreender e relacionar o atropelamento da fauna com o habitat que abrange a área de estudo. Dos diversos fatores, o atropelamento de animais silvestres em rodovias que cortam áreas de conservação, podem ser compreendido devido a travessia da fauna que muitas vezes vão em busca de melhores recursos. O presente estudo teve como objetivo apresentar os impactos causados à fauna silvestre por rodovias brasileiras que fragmentam áreas florestais. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de bibliografias científicas que expõem o efeito negativo de rodovias que fragmentam espaços como as unidades de conservação que abrigam diversas espécies de animais silvestres, entre eles muitos ameaçados de extinção. Atualmente, as rodovias que fragmentam áreas florestais e unidades de conservação já estão informadas com placas de sinalização indicando a possível travessia de animais na pista, porém ainda é necessário um olhar mais crítico aos órgãos responsáveis pelas rodovias e pelos órgãos responsáveis por áreas florestais para amenizar os acidentes envolvendo animais silvestres.
