The present research addressed the uses of geographic information systems (GIS)in rural areas. The bibliography consulted allowed to realize that SIG has definitely become a must in cases where complexity is present and a decision is demanded. The cientific papers showed the use of registered softwares prevail, though there is a trend to move into the development of free softwares that can be customized. The interdisciplinarity was a remarkable caracteristic at the cientific literature and its presence assured the commitment of the resarchers at promoting better production techniques taking the environment protection into account, making the best from GIS. |
