Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the Azamax ® commercial product efficiency in order to control red spider mite Oligonychus yothersi in laboratory and field conditions. In laboratory a solution of the product at a concentration of 0.25%, was sprayed on yerba mate leaf discs, with prior and subsequent infestation with mites (12 discs with 15 adult / treatment females, repeated in time three times) they were maintained at 25 ± 1 ° C and 12 hours light. The evaluation of the number of dead mites in acaricide action and residual activity of the product was performed daily noting the number after 24 hours. At 5 leaf behavioral evaluation rectangles were cut out having the center rib as a divisor, where half of the sheet was immersed in Azamax solution at the same concentration been described for 1 minute, after drying, 10 adult mites unsexed were released on the leaves, was prepared 5 repetitions (repeated in time three times) the evaluations were performed in 5-minute time interval and 1, 6.12, 24 hours noting the number of mites in each area of the sheet. To check action ovicida the product was sprayed on 12 discs containing 15 eggs with a maximum of 24 hours of posture, evaluations were performed daily by observing the number of outbreaks over a period of 10 days (repeated in time twice). In the field, they selected 20 yerba mate trees with a height between 1.5 to 2 meters, of which 10 were treated with the same product will be 0.25% (two applications of syrup 1 L / plant, with motorized sprayer) and 10 received no treatment. In the evaluations were quantified living mites on 20 leaves / plant collected randomly. The results showed a mortality of 91.41% O. adult yothersi after 24 hours, while the residual activity showed 86.6% mortality of individuals after 24 hours showed ovicidal action hatching or viability of only one egg, 08%, while the repellent action showed 62% leakage of the area treated with the product already in the field experiments the average population of mites on the leaves fell from 15.9 to 2.9 nine days after the second application of the product. These results demonstrate the great capacity of Azamax product tested in various aspects, mortality in laboratory and field, and in its residual effect in the laboratory, and its repellent capacity and ovicidal action.
