This work was to thematic analyzing the environmental suitability of the production units with the activity of pig farming in the municipality of Palmitinho. Swine production in our region has been gaining attention in recent years, with strong growth in production, becoming a major source of income for small properties. But as any productive activity also generates swine waste, maybe this is one of the agricultural activities that have a greater potential polluter. This potential is due to several aspects, such as the large volume of waste generated, the pollutants of the same characteristics, feedlot production that elevates the concentration of manure in small area and some incorrect management in the activity. To continue to grow we must combine productivity with the preservation of the environment, which is a big challenge. The work aimed to assess the environmental suitability of the production units with activity swine, analyze the vision of pig farmers regarding the importance of environmental suitability of the property and activity. We carried out the data collection through literature review and observation and/or in situ study, and interviews with pig farmers, seeking to identify the characteristics of each unit of production delimited in the survey and evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively the compliance or otherwise of requirements of environmental licensing of the activity. Among the results it was found that improvements are made in the farms under study relate, in most cases, the treatment of waste, however, also pointed out the need to improve the management of dead animals and the need to improve facilities of the oldest farms to better allocate the animals. It was also found that the unit producing pigs have evolved significantly in recent years in relation to environmental adaptation. Virtually all new units of the municipality are settling in suitable locations, respecting the minimum distances required by law. We noticed that you have a lot to improve, especially as regards the awareness of producers in relation to pollutant waste of power, the importance of environmental licensing and to make the management of manure and composting properly. |
