The generation of waste has become a major environmental problem. In Salvador (BA), for example, over 1 million tons of waste annually, where only 5 % is recycled are produced. One of the places where the soteropolitana population more observed accumulation of garbage are the beaches where one of the main observations is the lack of suitable places to deposit the garbage being commonplace practice of garbage dumped in the sand on sidewalks and sometimes at sea. Notorious case which occurs on the beach of Porto da Barra, selected for this study site because it is much frequented and appreciated tourist attraction. This research aims to identify the main responsible for the accumulation of trash on the beach of Porto da Barra. Questionnaires in the days 10/05/2013 and 17/11/2013, with 21 respondents goers were applied. The data indicated that 71% of attendees believe that the swimmers themselves are responsible for accumulation of trash on the beach. 47,6% of attendees indicated that the actions of government are insufficient to keep the beach free of litter. Based on the results, we suggest the implementation of environmental education projects for beach goers Porto da Barra, aiming at its preservation, and at the same time, the results extending to other places of Salvador. |
