The goal was to identify and analyze the main environmental problems diagnosed in the city and the solutions proposed in its Master Plan, through its legislation in the area of environmental management and review guidelines, propositions, actions and investments planned for the municipality in this area. The methodology used was the bibliographic and documentary survey related to this topic and analysis of information collected. As main results, we highlight the trend of accelerated and disordered urban sprawl and the risk of occupation of environmentally unsuitable areas, thus becoming the main challenge in implementing the Master Plan, and Sanitation sector as the major target of action of the proposed measures. In conclusion, it is necessary a great technical and political commitment to the applicability of the long-term environmental propositions in Concordia, with emphasis on sanitation as a key factor, but not the only, in improving the living conditions of the population. Este trabalho tem como temática analisar as principais proposições ambientais presentes no Plano Diretor de Concórdia – Santa Catarina, observando desde a evolução da urbanização brasileira, para entendimento da atual estruturação das cidades, até os instrumentos reguladores do uso do solo urbano como o Estatuto da Cidade e o próprio Plano Diretor Municipal, passados dois anos da revisão do mesmo, analisando sua aplicabilidade. O objetivo foi identificar e analisar os principais problemas ambientais diagnosticados no município e quais as soluções propostas em seu Plano Diretor, através de sua legislação na área de gestão ambiental e analisar as diretrizes, proposições, ações e investimentos programados para o município nesta área. A metodologia utilizada foi o levantamento bibliográfico e documental relacionado a este tema e a análise das informações coletadas. Como principais resultados obtidos, destaca-se a tendência de crescimento urbano acelerado e desordenado com o risco de ocupação de áreas ambientalmente inadequadas, tornando-se assim o principal desafio na implementação do Plano Diretor Municipal, e o setor do Saneamento como principal alvo de atuação das medidas propostas.
