One of the concerns associated to the improvement of sanitation index in rural communities, is related to the possibility to offer drinking water for human consumption. Thus, the objective of this study is to demonstrate in a practical way the process of building the protection of springs from Caxambu model. This preservation technique and recovery sources is presented as an excellent alternative of use quality of water for human consumption, besides ensuring the consumption of drinking water, avoiding health problems related to water borne diseases. The protection, beyond of have a large environmental advantage, prevents the source is contaminated by external agents, directly contributing to the improvement of population quality of life.
