Access to water and sewage services are fundamental rights of every citizen. The objective of this study was to describe the scenario of water and sewage services in the city of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, over a period of 3 years, from 2014 to 2016. For this purpose, information collected in the literature and on federal sites, such as the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS), with the aim of characterizing, comparing and discussing the interference of water and sewage services, in the capital of Paraná, in public health. Thus, this article explores public and environmental health; of the evolution of sanitation in Brazil; of the elements that define the activities of water and sanitary sewage; presents the panorama of water and sewage services in Curitiba-PR during the analyzed period; and correlates the importance of good water and sewage management to ensure the quality of life of the inhabitants. In order to do só, it was done database consolidation, analysis and concluded with the present work that Curitiba is a positive example of management in the universalization of water and sewage services, where most of the analyzed indicators followed in a harmonious way the political, economic and social transformations of the country, thus guaranteeing more public and environmental health. |
